Recently, Labubu, with its quirky and cute appearance, has swept the world and become a highly sought-after new collectible toy. Perhaps not many people know that the "soft and fluffy" hair on Labubu comes from the simulation animal fur fiber independently developed by Longjie Special Fiber Co., LTD., an old textile factory in Zhangjiagang. Behind this lies a story of a traditional textile enterprise's independent innovation and breaking of international monopolies.

Entering the intelligent production workshop of Longjie Company, there is no flying silk floss like in traditional textile enterprises. Instead, there is a highly integrated digital assembly line featuring automatic feeding, high-speed spinning, and intelligent detection. Here, polyester filament undergoes a series of reshaping processes such as high-magnification stretching and microstructure modification, and is ultimately transformed into realistic, skin-friendly and environmentally friendly animal fur fibers.

This technology of simulating animal fur fibers is the result of more than ten years of dedicated research and development by Long Jie's team. Before 2008, this type of high-fidelity fiber was completely dependent on imports from Japan and South Korea. Starting from a three-dimensional curly filament, Longjie Company devoted itself to research and development and finally broke through the key process in 2010, launching the first generation of domestic animal hair-like fibers.

Longjie Company, which has broken the international monopoly, has not stopped there. Over the years, it has invested an average of more than 50 million yuan in research and development each year, constantly optimizing the luster, loft and touch of fibers. With "a single thread", it has carved out a niche in the high-end clothing market. We have established long-term strategic cooperative relationships with fabric suppliers of many well-known domestic and foreign brands such as Prada, GUCCI, BURBERRY and Armani.

In recent years, with the heating up of the trendy toy market, Longjie Company has keenly captured this trend and extended its application of simulated fur fiber technology to trendy toy products. Relying on its complete innovation chain, it has entered the supply chain of the trendy toy market. At present, we have established in-depth collaborative cooperative relationships with fabric suppliers of brands such as Pop Mart and Disney.

We can now imitate seventy or eighty different styles of animal hair. Wang Jianxin, the deputy general manager of the company, introduced, "Take Labubu for example. It uses three different types of animal hair fibers - silky, smooth and lustrous mink hair, fluffy, soft and elastic wool hair, and fine and soft rabbit hair hair." These three materials are stacked layer upon layer to 'weave' 'fluffy little animals' with rich fur and a fine texture."

At present, Longjie Company has developed three main product lines: fur imitation fiber, suede imitation island fiber, and PTT new polyester fiber. It has accumulated 70 authorized patents, including 17 invention patents, and has led or participated in the formulation of 20 national and industry standards. In 2024, the company achieved an industrial total output value of 1.8 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year growth of 21%. The net profit reached 57.76 million yuan, increasing by 301% year-on-year.

As an old textile factory established in 2003, Longjie Company has brought new trends and directions to the traditional textile industry with each realistic faux wool fiber. Wang Jianxin said, "From low-end competition to high-quality development, we still need to keep breaking through and tell a new story of 'Made in China' with 'a single thread'."
