Banyeres de Mariola, Spain – A producer of low-impact recycled cotton fiber and cotton blends is advancing efforts to enhance transparency in circular textiles.
The company has collaborated with a digital traceability platform to pilot an initiative using blockchain-based technology to track its recycled cotton and polycotton fibers from production to finished garments. This pilot is a key step toward meeting upcoming EU Digital Product Passport (DPP) requirements, which will mandate brands to provide verified, product-level data on material origins and sustainability.
“This pilot allows us to test the traceability system in real-world conditions, giving brand partners verified data to support responsible sourcing, product disclosures, and credible circularity claims,” said a senior sustainability representative.
For the project, two representative styles were selected to evaluate the platform across different supply chain setups. The technology generates digital tokens for each kilogram of material, ensuring a verified chain of custody at every stage of transformation. The platform provides multilingual training, structured onboarding, localized guidance, and responsive support throughout the process.
“This initiative shows how traceability can be integrated into circular business models—not just to validate recycled content but to build the verified data infrastructure needed for regulatory compliance and brand accountability,” said a traceability expert. “It lays the groundwork for scalable digital traceability across the recycled fiber industry.”
