How To Celebrate Earth Day 2024?

No one can do everything to combat the climate crisis, but everyone can make a difference. Whether you're at school, work, or home, you can find some ideas for celebrating Earth Day.

1. Cycling

Fewer cars on the road mean fewer carbon emissions polluting the air and contributing to global warming. Find transport alternatives that help reduce your carbon footprint and get you moving, cycling and walking are two free options.

2. Develop a water conservation plan

There are many ways to use less water, such as: installing water-saving shower heads; turning off the faucet while brushing your teeth; asking your parents or roommates to check if the toilet is leaking; using the dishwasher less often or only when full; or planting more in the garden. Full of drought-tolerant trees and plants that don’t require frequent watering.

3. Use reusable bags

It is estimated that the average person uses 365 plastic bags per year, and the production of plastic bags alone requires approximately 12 million barrels of oil. Not to mention, they take up a lot of space in landfills and cause serious problems for marine life.

4. Turning waste glass into healthier coastlines

Shoreline erosion is a big problem. Rising water levels and shoreline erosion are serious problems in some areas. Some organizations are turning recycled glass into a sand substitute to protect the ecosystem. If you live near the coast, see if anyone is doing this work near you.

5. Create a Backyard Wildlife Habitat

Habitat loss for many local wildlife is severe. On Earth Day 2024, you can dedicate a portion of your backyard to native plants and provide local wildlife with food, shelter, and water to thrive within the development.
