Looking for a high-performance carbon fiber track? This information should not be missed

On April 1, a seminar focused on advancing China's carbon fiber and composite material technology was held in Shaoxing, Zhejiang. Over 100 industry experts, business leaders, and researchers gathered to discuss innovations in equipment and applications for high-quality industrial development.

Xu Yingxin, Vice President of the China Textile Industry Federation, highlighted China's progress in carbon fiber production, noting that capacity reached 140,000 tons in 2024—accounting for one-third of global output. Exports surged 120% year-on-year, with T800-T1100 high-end products achieving mass production. He outlined five key measures for future growth:

  1. Core tech breakthroughs (e.g., smart manufacturing, standards development)

  2. Equipment efficiency (improving stability and product consistency)

  3. Cross-industry collaboration (accelerating R&D transformation)

  4. Talent cultivation (focus on applied skills)

  5. Global cooperation (integrating international resources)

Sun Guojun, Chairman of Zhejiang Seiko Integrated Technology, showcased the company’s 5,000-ton carbon fiber production line, which achieves 22 m/min carbonization speed—a 275% increase over 2016 levels. The line reduces energy use by 19.9% and cuts labor costs by 20%, supporting high-end applications like aerospace.

Key Insights from Experts:

  • Zhu Meifang (Chinese Academy of Sciences) emphasized carbon fiber’s role in wind energy (30,000-ton demand by 2025) and aviation (11.5% usage in C919 jets).

  • Xu Lianghua (Beijing University of Chemical Technology) urged a shift from capacity expansion to quality focus, addressing issues like low-price competition.

The event also featured the launch of Zhejiang’s High-Performance Carbon Fiber Innovation Center, aiming to boost R&D and international competitiveness.

Conclusion: With breakthroughs in localization and smart production, China’s carbon fiber industry is poised to lead in aerospace, renewables, and advanced materials, driven by tech upgrades and global partnerships.
