International Trends in Functional Baselayer Base Fabrics

Materials that can replace recycled plastic bottles in the future are becoming a hotspot, including films, mechanical recycling, chemically recycled fibers, bio-based materials, bioplastic materials, carbon-captured textiles, and other new areas of development, natural fiber blends or cellulose will play a huge role.

Baselayer base layers

Across all categories, Baselayer base layers are more diverse than ever. Natural fibers show all kinds of diversity, with cotton, hemp, tencel, kapok and modal being ubiquitous in the summer. These natural fibers are also complemented by some animal fibers, such as wool blends, in most cases merino wool, and are no longer applied in their pure form, but as recycled variants. Manufacturers are increasingly turning to recycled fiber technology, which involves upcycling a large proportion of cotton fabric waste. Manufacturers offer a diverse range ideal for summer baselayers as well as functional clothing for water sports.
