According to the website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the ministry released the operation situation of the textile industry from January to April 2025 on the 7th.
Textile production maintained growth. From January to April, the industrial added value of large-scale textile enterprises increased by 4.2% year-on-year, and their operating income was 1,494.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 0.5%. The total profit was 40.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 5.0%. The output of clothing by large-scale enterprises decreased by 0.4% year-on-year, while the output of yarn, fabric and chemical fibers increased by 7.0%, 2.3% and 5.7% respectively year-on-year.
Consumer demand has steadily expanded. From January to April, the total retail sales of consumer goods by units above the designated size across the country reached 6,408.2 billion yuan, up by 5.9% year-on-year. Among them, the retail sales of clothing, shoes and hats, and needle and textile products by units above the designated size increased by 3.1% year-on-year, and the retail sales of online clothing products of physical goods increased by 0.5% year-on-year.
Textile foreign trade demonstrates resilience. From January to April, China's cumulative textile and apparel exports reached 90.5 billion US dollars, up by 1.1% year-on-year. Among them, textile exports were 45.9 billion US dollars, up by 3.8% year-on-year, and apparel exports were 44.6 billion US dollars, down by 1.5% year-on-year.
