China's Cotton Imports in May
According to customs statistics, China's cotton imports in May were 40,000 tons, a decrease of 20,000 tons (33.9%) month-on-month (compared to 60,000 tons) and a decrease of 220,000 tons (86.3%) year-on-year (compared to 260,000 tons). From January to May, China's cumulative cotton imports were 440,000 tons, a decrease of 73.5% year-on-year. Among them, Brazilian cotton accounted for 235,700 tons, making up 53.8% of total imports, while U.S. cotton was 94,000 tons, accounting for 21.36%. Brazil has replaced the U.S. as China's largest cotton supplier.
China's Cotton Yarn Imports in May
According to customs statistics, China's cotton yarn imports in May were 100,000 tons, a decrease of approximately 20,000 tons (14.5%) year-on-year and a decrease of about 20,000 tons (16.67%) month-on-month. From January to May, China's cumulative cotton yarn imports were 560,000 tons, a decrease of 15.8% year-on-year. For the 2024/25 season (September 2024 to May 2025), China's cumulative cotton yarn imports were approximately 1.06 million tons, a decrease of 19.70% year-on-year.
China's Cotton Yarn Exports in May
China's cotton yarn exports in May were 27,900 tons, a decrease of 5.19% month-on-month but an increase of 6.53% year-on-year, reaching the highest level in nearly five years for the same period. From January to May, China's cumulative cotton yarn exports were 142,700 tons, an increase of 22.59% year-on-year.
China's Cotton Fabric Exports in May
The latest data from the General Administration of Customs shows that China's cotton fabric exports in May were 560 million meters, an increase of 2.75% month-on-month and 9.59% year-on-year. From January to May, China's cumulative cotton fabric exports were 2.608 billion meters, an increase of 10.09% year-on-year.
China's Cotton Product Exports in May
China's cotton product exports in May were 656,500 tons, an increase of 8.53% year-on-year and 3.30% month-on-month. The export price was $9.33/kg, a decrease of 11.98% year-on-year. From January to May, China's cumulative cotton product exports were 2.9873 million tons, an increase of 12.43% year-on-year, with an export price of $9.42/kg, a decrease of 15.59% year-on-year.
China's Textile and Apparel Exports in May
According to data from the General Administration of Customs, China's textile and apparel exports in May reached $26.21 billion, an increase of 0.6% year-on-year and 8.4% month-on-month. Among them, textile exports were $12.63 billion, a decrease of 1.9% year-on-year but an increase of 0.4% month-on-month, while apparel exports were $13.58 billion, an increase of 3% year-on-year and 17% month-on-month. From January to May, China's cumulative textile and apparel exports were $116.67 billion, an increase of 1.0% year-on-year. Among them, textile exports were $58.48 billion, an increase of 2.5% year-on-year, while apparel exports were $58.2 billion, a decrease of 0.5% year-on-year.
