Naia Renew Makes A Splash At Market Week

Kingsport, Tenn. – Naia Renew, the sustainable cellulosic fiber from Eastman, was in residence at several showrooms during New York Home Fashions Market.

Designed to meet the needs of environmentally conscious consumers, Naia Renew has been incorporated into fills that make basic bedding products sustainable from the inside out. It is also being used in mindfully sustainable bedding as well as in bath towels – making the latter quick drying and fresher longer.

WestPoint Home, 1888 Mills, Alkaram Textile, Yunus Textil Mills Limited and Liberty Textile Mills Limited are just some of the worldwide partners that showcased Naia Renew staple fiber and the patented molecular recycling technology behind it during New York market.

Produced from 60% sustainably sourced wood pulp and 40% certified waste materials, Naia Renew staple fiber is available at scale and can be blended with other sustainable fibers. Eastman transforms waste materials that are difficult to recycle – which would otherwise not have an end-of-life option – into biodegradable fibers through its patented carbon renewal technology.

Naia Renew received its GRS certification in December 2023. This certifies the fiber’s recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices and chemical restrictions. Earned after an independent third-party audit, GRS certification provides increased traceability, environmental principles, social requirements, chemical content and labeling.

The recycling process also supports a circular economy — making the most of natural resources by creating end-of-life solutions for waste to reduce, reuse and recycle materials. This keeps waste out of landfills and incinerators while reducing carbon footprints and preserving natural resources.

The carbon footprint of Naia Renew fiber is measurably reduced over its life cycle, according to Eastman,  and even though the fibers are made with hard-to-recycle materials, Naia Renew is certified biodegradable and compostable.
