Orders exported to the US suddenly saw a 50% price drop, with goods piling up like mountains. Will the shift to domestic sales cause orders to "soar" again?

Recently, the Jiangsu stop of the Ministry of Commerce's "Foreign Trade Quality Products China Tour" was held in Nanjing. The touring purchasing group conducted its first purchase at the event site. In the face of the current difficulties in exporting foreign trade products, how to expand domestic sales and keep orders going is the greater demand of the on-site personnel.

Sun Qing, the business manager of Yancheng Airi Clothing Co., LTD., said: "Since two years ago, we have placed our first order for an American customer with 2,000 pieces. This year, it has suddenly increased to 170,000 pieces. My original delivery date for the first batch was April 5th. Now it's been half a month since the delivery date, and there are four containers of goods at home."

Ninety percent of the products are exported, with the majority sold to the United States. There are 4 million orders in hand, half of which are in a backlog. Some orders are required to be reduced by 50% before they can be received. This is the current business situation that Sun Qing's factory has to face.

Sun Qing, the business manager of Yancheng Airi Clothing Co., LTD., said: "In the past two weeks, I really couldn't sleep at night. There were so many clothes piled up inside, totaling 2 million pieces, and the sales revenue was approximately over six or seven million US dollars."

In response to the difficulties faced by foreign trade enterprises like Sun Qing's, the government departments are also taking measures to help the enterprises find solutions together. At the event site, the first activity of the foreign trade quality Products Touring purchasing group led by the Ministry of Commerce was also held simultaneously. More than 80 large domestic supermarkets, e-commerce platforms and wholesale and retail enterprises made on-site purchases to discover high-quality products and help foreign trade enterprises expand their domestic markets.

At the event site, a large e-commerce platform also set up a special zone venue for "Jiangsu Foreign Trade Quality Products". Through measures such as "traffic inclination", opening green channels, and reducing some fees, it is planned to help Jiangsu foreign trade enterprises achieve sales of over 20 billion yuan on this platform within the next year.

During this event, Sun Qing made contact with many professional purchasers, some of whom have already expressed their intention to have her clothing sold in large supermarkets.

We have also connected with some supermarkets, some domestic purchasers, and even some e-commerce platforms. I think it's really a very good opportunity for us. At least it can help us enter the domestic sales system.

At present, Jiangsu has established a provincial coordination mechanism for the integration of domestic and foreign trade involving 20 departments, and has implemented the cultivation of entities for the integration of domestic and foreign trade. A total of 13 leading enterprises in the integration of domestic and foreign trade at the national level and 355 pilot enterprises for the integration of domestic and foreign trade in the province have been cultivated. On the policy front, over 5,000 annual consumption promotion events of "Suxin Consumption" were quickly integrated into the "Foreign Trade Zone", and major foreign trade cities simultaneously prepared special exhibitions and sales.
